With the Santa Claus Parade behind us, we’re in the thick of the holiday season now and that means there’s a lot of foodie fun to look forward to within the next month!

  • I just finished off a draft of the December Food Calendar today and I’m mega excited about a bunch of events that are happening such as the Slow Food Toronto Terra Madre Day at the Harbourfront Centre and the Winter Festival at Evergreen Brick Works – sneak peek, y’all 😉  I know the start of the new month will mean less days to get my crafting and gift-getting butt in gear, but I’m really looking forward to the holiday bake sales and themed menus (Dessert Lady recently rolled out their holiday spread and you can count me in on that one!), and I’m especially happy that the Toronto Christmas Market is coming back to the Distillery District again this year!  Since I’m definitely planning on making several visits to this market, you can expect more blog posts on goodies in the Distillery District as well!

  • New series alert!  The Kitchen Boutique series completely fell in my lap and took me by surprise because it was a series that I honestly never even thought about doing until last week.  The lightbulb went off though when I decided to pay Carlos and his staff at CocoaLatte a visit with some cookies I had baked.  I immediately recalled Clay being a few shops down the street and a new series was born.  This series is so much fun because not only do I get to drool over amazing kitchen accessories, but I get to learn about cooking and tools at the same time.  I am so happy the idea popped up and the series is definitely here to stay.  If any of you have any suggestions, just give me a shout.

  • The Hot Chocolate series (part of the larger Winter Wonderland category I’ll be adding to the blog shortly) started two days ago and I’m just about ready to start the Gingerbread series!  I’ve been doing some major research on where to find delicious and unique gingerbread treats around the city and I’m excited to share them with you all once I get it up and running.  I’m hoping to profile some yummy gingerbread desserts, but the real challenge will be finding something that’s savoury as opposed to sweet.  I’m up for the challenge though so we’ll see how the hunt goes!

  • For those of you who love taking classes and/or attending food events in the city, you absolutely must check out Guestaurant!  Hailing from the UK, Guestaurant is a “one-stop-shop” listing of food events taking place in a particular region on any particular day of the year.  They just recently brought the website and business over to our neck of the woods here in Canada and our beloved city of Toronto is one of the cities that you can access events to.  Businesses and restaurants upload and advertise their events on Guestaurant and with a few clicks, you can see at a glance what’s going on in the world of food and gastronomy.  While my Food Calendar and the Calendar of Events over at Food Bloggers of Canada are more like monthly compilations, Guestaurant is great for those who want to specifically find events and things to do on a specific day, such as those who have friends and family coming from out of town, tourists, and locals who want to make plans for a weekend or specific day when they’re not working or at school or the like.  Definitely check it out!

  • And last, but definitely not least, in one week we’ll be celebrating the blog’s 1st BIRTHDAY!  😀  I’m so happy to be reaching this milestone and although I haven’t planned out what I’m going to post about for that day yet, this calls for a sweet celebration and something reeeally good to eat!

I hope you’re all looking forward to the holidays as much as I am and that you’re all enjoying the new series sets I’ve rolled out!  December is going to be one very happy foodie month.
